Upcycling Knit Tops into a Reversible Twist Beanie

After my two knit tops shrunk (or stretched) in the wash, I decided to turn them into a reversible beanie.

Since my head circumference is about 56cm, I used the fabric from both tops to create a 56 x 56cm square.

Following this video tute, I used my Babylock serger to overlock all the seams.

To keep the opening in place, I finished the edge with a chain stitch as a top stitch.

The beanie fits super well – snug but not too tight!

I can’t quite pull it down all the way for it to double as a neck gaiter, but that’s OK—I can get my hair through it, and—it still helped me declutter my closet!
