I wanted to make something light and dreamy, so I put together these pastel sky soap bars using layered melt‑and‑pour soap and a few pre‑prepared embeds. The translucent moon is my favourite part — it glows beautifully when light passes through it — and keeping all the shapes centred means the design shows from both sides and stays visible all the way through the bar.
Preparing the pieces

White soap base was melted and poured into a square mold to about 5mm high.
Cookie cutters were used to cut out the clouds, stars, and cat.
Petals shaped soaps were prepared in the same way with a drop of red pigment added to the white soap base.
The moon shaped soap was prepared by adding 2 drops of yellow pigment into melted clear soap base, and pouring it into a long moon mold.
It was sliced to about 2cm thick.

Layering the soap

Moon soap slices were placed into the mold.
Soap base was melted (and pigments/fragrances added) to make pastel blue, pink, and navy blue soaps.
These were poured into the molds until half way full (after spraying rubbing alcohol onto the moons).

Once the soap had set, stars, petals, and cat shaped soap were laid out on top.
Melted clear soap base was cooled down to 55°C and poured on top (after a spray of rubbing alcohol).
Once hardened, cloud shaped soap was placed on top.

Finally, melted clear soap base was cooled down to 55°C and poured on top to cover and finish the soap bars.
These were cooled down to set completely and demolded.

I love how these pastel sky bars came together. The moon has such a pretty glow when light shines through it, and the centred embeds keep the cute design visible right to the end of the soap.
