These cute soap bars were made by layering melt and pour glycerine soap. The translucent moon lets the light in through the white soap base, making it look very cool.

The moon and cat shaped soap were pre-made using a silicone mould / cookie cutter – just like in my previous posts for making autumn cake soap and starry night soap.

To make two 100g soap bars using the bottom part of a 500g soap block mould:
- Place moon shaped soap about 12mm thick in to the soap block mould.
- Melt 90g white soap base and add essential oil for fragrance. Wait for it to cool down to about 5-~55°C. Spray isopropyl alcohol onto the moon and pour the white soap into the mould – stop pouring just before it’s level with the moon.
- Once it has set, place cat shaped soap onto the soap.
- Melt 100g clear soap base and wait until it cools down to about 50-55°C. Spray the white soap in the mould with isopropyl alcohol, and pour the clear soap over the top, trying not to melt the kitty cat.
- Once it’s set, take it out of the mould and slice into two soap bars.
To keep it from getting glycerine dew on the surface, I wrapped it in cellophane.
The cat is embedded in the middle of the soap, and the moon extends through the white soap, so the design can be enjoyed for most of its life 🙂

They look pretty cool when the light comes in through the translucent moon!
