Autumn Leaves Soap Cake Recipe

Let me share my recipe for a Japanese inspired autumn leaves soap cake. It makes five 90g soap bars using the bottom part of a 1kg soap block mould.

Preparing the leaves

Yellow leaves: Melt 100g clear soap base, add 2 drop yellow pigment and 8 drops fragrance.
Pour into the soap log mold. (It makes it about 5mm tall). When set, take it out and cut out 16 leaves with a cookie cutter.

Orange leaves: Melt 100g clear soap base, add 1 drop yellow and 2 drops red pigment. Pour into soap log mould. When set, cut out 16 red leaves. (It makes about 18g of leaves.)

Green leaves: Melt 100g clear soap base, add 1 drop yellow 2d green pigment. Pour into soap log mould. When set, cut out 8 green leaves.

Layering the soap

This recipe made 5 soap bars about 2.4cm tall inside a 1kg soap log mould:

  1. Melt and pour 130g of orange soap into the soap log mould. Let it cool down and set.
  2. Melt and pour 80g of white soap mixed with 10g of orange soap into the soap log mould. Let it set.
  3. Melt and pour 80g of clear soap base, embed the yellow and green leaves, and pour another 50g of clear soap base.
  4. Place red leaves on top, then cover with another 100g of clear soap base.

*Spray isopropyl alcohol before pouring a new layer so they adhere. Fragrance or essential oil can be added before pouring each layer, but they can discolour clear soap.
